Dr. Phillip Chang

Dr Philip Chang received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Melbourne. He completed his junior medical residency at Western Hospital in Melbourne, before moving to Sydney to complete his Gastroenterology training at Prince of Wales Hospital. He went on to undertake a clinical and research fellowship in Hepatology at Prince of Wales Hospital, as well as completing a Masters in Medicine at the University of Sydney. He has published papers in internationally peer reviewed journals in luminal gastroenterology and also hepatology, and has been a reviewer for multiple gastroenterology and hepatology journals.

He is a consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Royal North Shore Hospital, where he has full admitting and endoscopy rights. He also has admitting and endoscopy rights to North Shore Private Hospital. He is currently a conjoint lecturer in medicine at the University of Sydney, and actively participates in teaching medical students and junior medical staff from intern to fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital and the Norther Clinical School (University of Sydney). Dr Chang currently supervises MD students at the Northern Clinical School, and is a college supervisor for advanced trainees in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He also participates in the teaching program for the Masters of Internal Medicine program at the University of Sydney.

Dr Chang is conversant in English and Mandarin, and has a special interest in small bowel dysbiosis and its’ role in chronic inflammation in the gut and liver. He is fully accredited with the conjoint committee of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia for performing interventional gastroscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy.
