Quality and Safety
Quality and Safety
The Sydney Clinic for Gastrointestinal Diseases has a comprehensive quality and risk management program to monitor, assess, evaluate and continuously improve the quality of patient care provided. An annual audit program is in use to ensure all clinical and non-clinical processes are reviewed on a regular basis. Audits, surveys and indicator results are reported at our committees and staff meetings.
We collect clinical data to monitor our quality outcomes. We are in a benchmarking group with other day surgeries to measure and compare our outcomes and processes and to identify any opportunities for improvement. Please check the Patient Info tab to see our 6-monthly Consumer Safety and Quality Newsletters where we publish our indicator and audit results.
Our clinical governance structure is supported by the Management Committee that meets second monthly and a Medical Advisory Committee that meets twice a year. We are committed to improving our service and providing quality care, without compromise.
The Chief Executive Officer supports skills development of management and staff with support for professional development.
We are committed to providing patient centered care that recognises and meets the individual needs of all our patients. We encourage patient feedback through regular patient/carer experience surveys, informal interviews, review of patient information handouts and annual consumer focus group meetings.
Infection Prevention and Control is a key focus to ensure safe practice and a safe environment. Staff and doctors complete regular education and are assessed for compliance using observation audits. Our reprocessing department has been upgraded to comply with AS/NZS 5369:2023 and we engage an Infection Prevention and Control Consultant to ensure ongoing compliance.
